Last week I showed you how I organise the girls toys (if you missed it you can read it here) and in that post I mentioned that I stored all the games somewhere else. So in this post I thought I would show you what I do with them!
When we moved into our house we just had a normal dinning room table and chairs but I had always craved a bench. Don’t know why, just did. First of all I was looking for a Church pew style one but then I came across this most amazing bench on eBay that had the best storage, and that was it, I was in love!
This is what our dinning room looked like before the bench of joy arrived:
And this is how it looks now! Note the change in wall colour, that was the husbands idea, and I must say one of his best home interior choices yet!
Anyway, back to the bench. We brought it from a company called Heartland Interiors on eBay. Their choices of size and colour were perfect and we could have gone for one that was even bigger than this one! This is 6ft by the way and as you can see it has doubled our seating space!
Heartlands customer service was top notch, they kept us informed all along the way and it turned up within their delivery time frame and was put together by their delivery drivers. The quality is excellent, so sturdy and cleans well after the kids have done their best impression of eating like animals – food everywhere! Click here to see their eBay shop page and here to see the actual bench we purchased.
The storage under the bench seats is perfect! We play our games at the dining room table so it made a tonne of sense to move the games to this bench so they were in easy reach. It also helps with tidying up too.
The games only took up one half and I have yet to find stuff to fill up the other half, which is so nice to actually have some space in this house which isn’t filled! So far I have put the old breakfast bar chair pads in the other side, which is handy if someone wants to sit on one while they are sat on the bench (which is actually very comfy without a cushion). I also use this side for keeping birthday presents that I have brought for the girls to take to their numerous parties (they are a sociable lot). I tend to stock pile pressies for school friends parties when I see them on offer, but that’s another post!
And that’s it! I suppose what I’m trying to say is that if you are going to invest in some new furniture think about what storage requirements you need and see if you can combine the two. Sometimes it can turn out to be something as beautiful as this bench – too much love?! Naaaaahhhhh!
P.S. I love my cushions too, I found all four of them in Dunelm
Lets get organised
