Organising the house for Christmas – National Organising Week

6th November 2017 by Organisedjo 6 Comments

This week is National Organising Week and it couldn’t come at a better time. With Christmas now only next month, which is quite scary, now is actually a good time to have a sort out round the house. So with the motivation from National Organising Week I thought I would share with you some of my previous posts on how I have organise around my home. So lets start with what is probably the most busiest room in the house, the kitchen.

Kitchen

To help with getting ready to cook up a storm in the kitchen why don’t you have a go with clearing out your pots and pans. When you are entertaining and getting everything ready you need to be able to get your hands on things quickly, which is what I can now do with my pans all neatly organised.

Kitchen pans all sorted

Another thing in the kitchen that you will no doubt be using a lot of and that is the Tupperware. With all the left overs, or the food you are getting ready in advance, you will need to get your hands on the right size container and matching lid. I used to struggle with finding matching tubs & lids until I tried out this way of organising everything Tupperware related. It has now been like this for nearly a year and it really does work.

Lids stored in the kitchen basket

Another place to look at to help get yourself organised for Christmas is that draw in the kitchen where all the cling film and tin foil live. I use an extendable draw organiser in mine and has really worked well.

And finally for the kitchen, take a look under your kitchen sink. Does it need a declutter and a sort out? If you are looking for inspiration on how to organise it all check out how I did mine.

Hallway

The hallway can become a big dumping ground, what with kids, school bags, coats and especially at this time year hats and scarfs. I try to group everything together and organise them that way i.e. all the shoes in one place, all the bags in one place etc. Take a look at our hall and how we have everything sorted.

Bathroom

Now if like me you ask for a lot of things for you for Christmas it might be an idea to check out your make up and perfume now and declutter. I always like asking for my fav facial things (which is Clinique by the way),make up and perfume but want to make sure I know what I need. Take a look at how I have sorted my make up for some inspiration.

Toys

This one is a given and something I always do before any birthday or Christmas. I like to make sure there is space to put all the new presents so a good declutter and organise of the toys is good. It also helps to make sure you are not buying, or recommending to friends, family and Santa, something the kids already have. Take a look at how I organise the girls toys and arts and crafts.

I hope you find some inspiration and ideas from some of these posts to help you get ready for Christmas. My top tip is not to give all of these a go this week, even if it is National Organising Week, but may put a plan together and try to tackle one of these a week leading up to Christmas. Also, it will hopefully help you with not feeling like you need to spend the whole of January decluttering the house.

Let me know how you get on or what you plan to organise before Christmas.

I’m with you on the kids storage. Love the canvas bins for storing and categorising toys. As for the kitchen I leave that to the cook in the family. #bigpinklink

Great idea to use the run up to Christmas to get organised. Thankfully we’ve not long been in our house and it’s fairly organised. Thank you for joining us at #sharingthebloglove

This has made me realise that we’re fairly organised really, but the bathroom needs some serious attention! And shamefully it’s nearly all my stuff – I’m the culprit! This is going to be my task for next weekend now 🙂 Thanks for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove

There are some great ideas here – my kitchen is quite well organised as we had a new one last year and I have so much cupboard space it’s easy to find a place for everything. We’re about to decorate the hall and I need to try and keep it clutter free once it’s done so I’ll have a look at your post for some inspiration 🙂 #SharingTheBlogLove
