Well where did September go to? It felt like it flew past, but it was a very busy month. The girls are now back in school, and we have finally found our new routine with all the new times for their after school activities. I also attended my first blogging conference, Blog On, which took place in Manchester. I had such a fab time catching up with bloggers in real life. We have also now had our black Labrador puppy Monty with us for 5 weeks. He has settled in so well and is already becoming a big part of our family.
So how has Instagram been for me over the past month? Well I am happy to say I think I may have turned a corner. My followers are slowly creeping up and so is my engagement. What has also helped was listening to the fab Harriet from Toby & Roo talk at Blog On. I have implemented some of her suggestions and can see this is starting to have an effect.
The main thing I will try is to post at least a couple of times a day. This has been hard but I will continue to try and put up two posts a day. Secondly, I will try and only use hashtags that have under 100,000 photos linked to them. Apparently this will give me more of an opportunity to be seen. I am also trying to use my allowance of 30 hashtags per post. I have done quite a bit of research on what are the right hashtags and have created groups of them that are relevant to my type of posts i.e. kids playing, kids outdoors, home/organising etc.
Harriet also hammered home the point that you have to engage. Click on the hashtags you have tagged and like and comment on the top 9 in each one. This does take a lot of time, but I have been trying it out. I break it down into chunks throughout the day and find that is more manageable. Hopefully in next months update I will be able to report back that this is working for me.
In fifth place we have a tie. The first picture is of Monty enjoying the garden. He had been with us for about a week and was certainly making himself at home.
Totally failed at a back to school pic yesterday so it’s another pic of the puppy I’m afraid. He’s been home with us now for nearly week & is settling in really well. It is like having a toddler back in the house though with the phrase ‘what’s that in your mouth’ frequently been said followed by a chase around the garden to get said thing out of his mouth!
The second picture in fifth place is one that I snapped on my way to work only last week. I had an early start and the sun was low in the sky just as the morning mist was clearing. It was stunning so I just had to take a picture!
The picture in fourth place is actually a throw back picture to about this time last year. Again I took it when the sun was low in the sky and it just framed the girls beautifully as they used a concrete pipe on the beach as a catwalk!
There are so many happy things to strike a pose about today: 1️⃣It’s Friday!! 2️⃣It’s my day off 3️⃣I finally have a working phone again!!!!!!! This one I am so happy about. I can actually take photos without my phone dying after one click of the shutter, I can actually be heard on telephone calls & I have a phone which isn’t permanently attached to a charger. Oh I am so happy. What good thing, big or small, are you happy about today? Pic is a throwback to a lovely autumn day last year.
In third place it’s another picture of the puppy. This time we find him in one of his favourite positions, lying at your feet in the kitchen. He is most certainly a people doggy.
Sorry, it’s another puppy pic! 🐶#sorrynotsorry As you can imagine we are not getting out much at the moment so I haven’t had the chance to take any other pics. He’s had his first jabs now so less than two weeks before his next one & then we can take him out & really start socialising him. In other puppy news – if you are cooking, this is his usual position, at your feet! In fact he loves feet. He loves a nip of your big toes first thing in the morning & heaven forbid you leave any shoes in his path, he likes nothing more than smuggling them away in his cage. And in other non puppy news, my iPhone 6s has died completely & I’m doing stuff on a 4s. Who knew how much things had moved on with regard to phones, it’s smaller, it only has 3G 😱 and I have to go hunting for emoji’s instead of them turning up when I type a word 🙈. Only about 6 weeks to wait though until my contract runs out & I can get a new one. What to choose? What do you use?
The photo in second place was taken right at the beginning of the month. It was taken in the lovely gardens at Torre Abbey and showed my youngest walking through an arch of of bamboo towards what looked like a secret garden.
Off on a new adventure with little one this morning, she is going to have a tater session of netball. She had a go at shooting some hoops at a summer fair & got 8 in 1 minute. I couldn’t sign her up quickly enough. First step Netball Kidz, next step the England team!! I know I know, but a mum can dream ☺️😂😂. This pic was taken on our recent trip to @torreabbey Walking through this willow #arch & finding the fountain at the end was like something out of the secret garden.
And now to the picture in first place, and yep you guessed it, it’s of Monty! This was the photo I used to introduce him to all. He was laid so lovely on our decking and I got him at such a great angle.
Everyone, say hello to Monty, the new addition to our family. We picked up this bundle of cuteness yesterday & he seemed to settle in well. The first night went surprisingly well, fingers crossed this is the sign of things to come, but I’m not holding out too much. Since losing our 12 year old choccy lab Nelson last year to cancer we always knew we would want something to fill that awful hole that was left, but we needed to find the right time, and that for us is now. I would apologise because I have a feeling there will be quite a few puppy pics making an appearance but I don’t actually feel bad, because he is so god damn cute & who doesn’t want to feel some puppy love.
So there you have it, my top five most liked pictures on Instagram in September. Which one was your favourite? To see more of my pictures, and to see if I manage to post twice a day, pop over and see me on Instagram. A follow while you are there too would be grand!
