18 Easter School Holiday Activities in South Devon

The Easter school holidays are nearly here, which means us parents’s will be trawling the internet for things to do with the kids. So to help you find out what’s going on I have put together a list of activities that are taking place across South Devon during the holidays and over the Easter weekend. The list below includes some of the usual attractions, but I have also found some new ones too. I am sure you will agree that there is something for everybody.

18 Easter school holiday activities taking place across South Devon

Cockington – Backpack explorers

Date: Saturday 1st April

Time: 11 am to 3 pm

Price: £2 + £10 refundable deposit

Go on an adventure with your little explorers. Borrow a backpack full of things to do & look for in the park. Meet at The Linhay Visitor Centre in the park. Packs will be available for under 5s & for 6-9 year olds. 10 packs available on first-come-first-served basis. Cash will be needed to pay for the deposit.

Dinosaur World – Easter Egg Hunt

Date: Saturday 1st – Sunday 23rd April

Time: Open daily 11am – last entry 3pm – close at 5pm

Price: £6.95 per visitor which includes a Paleo Pass that gives you  FREE unlimited re-entry for 3 months, and 1/2 price entry to Kents Cavern during the Easter school holidays.

Dinosaur World is the only dinosaur exhibition in South Devon and they are putting on a rooaarsome Dinosaur Easter Egg Hunt this Easter holidays.

Be a brave explorer and get close and personal with the dinosaurs, be a Palaeontologist and discover fascinating fossils, and be a Dinosaur Detective to find out who has been stealing the dinosaur eggs. Use the clues to solve the mystery and win a special Easter Edition Dinosaur Expert Certificate, a selection of real 160 million-year- old fossils, and a chocolatey treat. There is also an Easter Egg competition taking place with a chance to win a Dinosaur World T Shirt and a Dinosaur Goodie Bag full of toys, models and fossils.

Woodlands – Eggsstreme Easter

Date: Saturday 1st April to Easter Monday 17th April

Time: 9.30 am to 5 pm

Price: Usual admission prices

The UK’s Number 1 Easter Bunny’s Grotto is getting bigger and better! Travel through a land of chocolate heaven, take in the stunning views and see the magic of the world of Easter before meeting the Easter Bunny himself.  Woodlands Easter Bunny’s Grotto is the first of its kind in the UK. Visitors will be asked for a small charge to gain entry into the GIANT Easter Bunnys’ Grotto which will be open throughout the Easter School Holidays.

There will also be Easter Egg Hunts and Easter craft workshops taking place across the park. The Zoo-Farm will have daily activities and there will also be two falconry shows a day.

Babbacombe Model Village – Easter Egg Trail

Date: Saturday 1st April – Sunday 23rd April

Time: 10 am to 4 pm

Price: Usual admission prices

We love the Model Village and I’m sure we will visit sometime over the holidays to try and find all the hidden eggs – apparently some may be eggstremely hard to find, but it will be eggscellent if we can find them all. A chocolately treat for all successful young eggsployers!

Kents Cavern – Dinosaur Quest

Date: Saturday 1st April to Sunday 23rd April

Time: Daily 10 am to 4 pm

Price: Usual admission, maybe small charge for activites

Go underground this Easter! Fun cave tours all day every day with lots of Easter activities to complete. Piece together the Dino facts to see if you can win an Easter surprise!

Agatha Christies Greenway & Coleton Fishacre – Cadbury Easter Hunt

Date: Saturday 1st April to Easter Monday 17th April

Time: 10.30 am to 4 pm

Price: Usual admission plus £2.50 for Easter Egg hunt

Both Coleton Fishacre and Greenway are running the Cadbury Easter Egg hunt this year. Once again the Cadbury Bunny has hidden precious Choccy eggs across Britain. To make sure you have loads of fun along the way, take a map and follow the clues to point you in the right direction, a delicious treat will be waiting for you at the end.

Occombe Farm – The Great Wild Egg Hunt

Date: Saturday 1st April to Easter Monday 17th April

Time: 10 am to 3 pm every day

Price: £2.50 per person

We love an Occombe Farm trail and will no doubt be paying them a visit during the holidays. This year, the animals have laid eggs all around the farm. Apparently we are going to have to use our wit to figure out what egg belongs to who.

Powderham Castle – Mad Science & Easter Fun

Dates:

Mad Science – Sunday 2nd to Thursday 13th April

Easter Fun – Easter Friday 14th – Easter Monday 17th April

Price: Usual admission

Mad Science – “The Essence of Eggs – an egg-themed mad science event, with an egg quiz, egg decorating, egg display and egg-speriments!”

2 sessions will be taking place each day at 12:30 & 2:30. These sessions will run for approximately 45 to 60 minutes and are aimed at children 5-11yrs, but enjoyed by everyone. Tickets are issued on the day only and spaces are limited. There’s always a trail to follow or a quest to solve.

Easter Fun –  Go along and join in the Easter fun and games and follow the bunny trail to win a tasty treat from south west chocolatier Chococo!

Pennywell Farm

Date: Monday 3rd to Easter Monday 17th April

Time: 10 am to 5 pm

Price: Usual admission

A bumper program of Easter activities is taking place at Pennywell this Easter and there is also a host of adorable new arrivals to meet and cuddle.

In addition to all our fantastic free half-hourly activities, there will be eggtra Easter fun and games! A full line-up of entertainment will be taking place every day in the Easter holidays with 2 Big Shows daily. These include Mr. Phil (3, 6, 10, 13 & 17 April), Elfic the Jester (4, 5, 9, 11, 12 & 16 April), Poco Drom (7, 14 & 15 April) and Matt Pang (8 April).

Occombe Farm – Meet the animals

Date: Tuesday 4th, Thursday 6th, Friday 7th, Tuesday 11th, Thursday 13th & Friday 14th April 2017

Time: 10 am to 11 am

Price: £2.50

Meet the animals and get a taste of what it’s like to feed and care for them! These special hour-long sessions, let you meet the Occombe Farm animals in a small group and say hello to all your favourites including goats, pigs, alpaca and more.

These sessions will go ahead whatever the weather, so make sure you bring some wellies and a waterproof.

Brixham – Pirate Thursdays

Date: Thursday 6th and 13th April

Time: All day

Price: FREE

Pirate Thursdays take place under the Old Fish Market on Brixham harbour side. Piratical fun for the young and young at heart, engaging with locals and visitors alike. A great opportunity to join in the amusing antics and have a great free day out. Their naughty deeds include Soak the Pirate as well as Balloon modelling, Puppet Shows, Arts & Crafts Workshops, Fancy Dress competitions, Photo Shoots, Live Music, plus much more.

Seashore Centre, Goodrington Beach – Rockpool Ramble

Date: Monday 10th April

Time: To be confirmed

Price: £3.50

Join the marine ranger and explore the incredible marine life that lives in Torbay’s rock pools. Discover feisty crabs, slimy anemones, wriggly starfish, sneaky prawns and more in the rock pools of Middlestone! Places need to be booked for this activity and you can do this here.

Princess Theatre – Robin Hood, Easter Panto

Date: Tuesday 11th April

Time: 2 pm and 6 pm

Price: various

Join the panto heroes Robin Hood and Maid Marian in this swashbuckling, arrow-slinging, tights-wearing comedy adventure. The all-star cast, includes ‘back by popular demand!’ children’s TV favourite – Dani Harmer from CBBC’s Tracy Beaker and Strictly Come Dancing as Maid Marian.

From the same team behind The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast and Peter Pan, Enchanted Entertainment return next Easter with another fantastic pantomime for all the family. Robin Hood will be packed full of laugh-out-loud comedy routines, stunning dances, show-stopping songs and heaps of audience participation… Oh yes it will! Click here to book your tickets.

Paignton Zoo– Easter Weekend Family Fun

Date: Good Friday 14th to Monday 17th April

Time: 10 am to 6 pm, last admission at 5 pm

Price: Usual admission plus £1.50 for trail sheet

Visit Paignton Zoo during the Easter Weekend for an egg trail with a twist! Journey around the Zoo to discover a variety of reptile eggs – find out fun facts about crocodiles, tortoises and more. You’ll even receive a chocolate treat for all your hard work.

Living Coasts – Eggs-cellent Easter Weekend

Date: Good Friday 14th to Easter Monday 17th April

Time: 10 am to 5 pm with last admission at 4 pm

Price: Usual admission plus £1.50 for a trail sheet

Join in the Easter fun including an Easter egg trail, talks and activities. Follow the colourful egg trail to find out fun facts about our animals and you’ll recieve a chocolate bunny at the end.

Berry Head Easter Egg Hunt

Date: Good Friday 14th to Easter Monday 17th April

Time: 9 am to 5 pm

Price: Free, but donations to the Friends of Berry Head encouraged

A self-guided Easter Egg Hunt around the Berry Head headland and forts. Collect instructions from the Guardhouse Cafe.

Who is Organised Jo?

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my blog Organised Jo. My name is Jo, a 40 *cough* something year old married working mum living in sunny (ish) South Devon. I live with my lovely and very understanding hubby and our two daughters, who are aged 9 and 6. During the day I work for the local Council as a Communications Officer.
