Well that’s another month done and dusted, and like all the previous ones recently it felt rather busy. The end of the school year has happened and we have been thrown into the depths of the summer holidays. So far so good. The girls appear to be enjoying themselves, while hubby and I do the childcare juggle.
So, how has Instagram been for me in July. Well to be brutally honest, I don’t think we are friends at the moment. My engagement has dropped even more. And when I checked my monthly stats, for the first time since I started Organised Jo on Instagram I lost followers! I know this is down to Instagram and their pesky algorithms, but give a girl a break. I am actually feeling really disheartened. For the first time ever I am not wanting to post or engage on Instagram at all. I love pretty pictures, call me a magpie, but even this isn’t lifting my spirits. I get why Instagram are probably doing this, trying to clean it up so its not full of bots or spammers, but it actually has made me not want to take part.
Because of this I think I will be taking a break from posting during the summer holidays. Maybe just add photos when I want to show off a lovely pic. Has anyone else been feeling the same? If so, what have you done to re-engage your love with Insta?
Anyway, rant over, let’s look at my top (not so well liked) pictures for July.
In fifth place we have a draw! The first picture is of the inside of our beach hut, which has recently been re-done as we have a new hut this year. It appears the hut we had been renting from the council didn’t make it through the winter, so they gave us a new second hand one. We reclaimed the breakfast bar from our old hut but decided to move it from the back wall to the side and it really has given us more space. My Mother-In-Law has also done a sterling job making the bunting, cushion covers and curtain. It really is one of my favourite places to be.
"The sun, the sand & a drink in my hand" Happy Wednesday everyone, how's your week going? Half way through the week & I'm thinking back to the weekend where we spent quite a few hours at the beach hut. Thinking of this place to get me through the rest of this week & hopefully we will be back here again this weekend. #lovemybeachhut #broadsands #paignton #torbay #englishriviera
The other joint fifth place picture is of my youngest’s new summer hat. I love the trilby straw hats for the girls and my husband came across this one in Morrisons. I love the flamingo.
In fourth place we have a picture of the cakes we made for this years summer fair. The school PTA do a fab job arranging the fair and the cake stall is always very popular. This year, in exchange for a non school uniform day, we were asked to bring in cakes, so we got our bake on and this was the result.
Today the girls have a non school uniform day, in exchange for bringing in cakes for the summer fair tomorrow. So on one of the hottest days of the year I ended up staying inside & baking cakes with them!!! Give them their due they did help ish i.e. they made the mess I cleared it up! We made up for it after by having tea down at the beach hut though. Have a good Friday everyone, I've agreed to go out on the kayak with the hubby today, it's been a long time since I've done that. I'll let you know how it goes later 😳.
We also have a tie for this months third place picture. The first one is of the many palm trees we have here in the English Riviera. This one can be found on the sea front in Torquay. The gorgeous blue sky behind it really does make you feel like you are in the Med.
Well that was a glorious weekend weather wise, but it's looking a bit cooler & cloudier here today. We are now into the final two weeks of school & most of the things on the calendar are nearly ticked off. Just got Parents Evening & a Drama Awards Ceremony to go this week & we are done until the last day of term next week! Talking of which I've just realised I haven't got anything for little ones teacher yet. We club together every year for the eldest one but haven't got the same thing in place for the other one. What are you getting your little ones teacher for end of term? And to the teachers out there, what do you like getting? Hit me up with some inspiration.
The other third place picture is of the girls sat in the play tunnel at the House of Marbles. We popped over there with my Dad to treat him to a cream tea for his birthday as well as pick up some marbles for the girls Summer Marble Challenge. I never knew they had a play ground there, and we have visited a lot. The girls loved it. The play area was also perfect for parents as there were seats all the way around. This meant we could enjoy our scrumptious scones while watching the kids play.
Nothing going on here, just chilling in a tunnel. We visited the @houseofmarbles in #boveytracey at the weekend as we treated my Dad to a cream tea for his birthday. We have been there loads before but I never knew they had a play park around the back of the cafe. The girls loved it while Dad & myself demolished our lovely scones, everyone was happy.
In second place it is the picture of the wild meadow flowers that sprung up right next to a busy road in Torbay. A greenspace project have been scattering the wild meadow flower seeds to encourage bumble bees and butterflies. The effect was delightful. Everyone locally commented on how fab they looked.
I had to stop & take a picture of this little strip of meadow flowers that I drive past on my way into work. Every day they look beautiful. They have been planted as part of an initiative to help bees 🐝 pollinate & for something so simple, like scattering wild meadow flower seeds they really do have an amazing effect.
And this months picture in first place is of the seafront at Torquay. I took this after we had just finished a lovely dinner at Pierre Bistrot
which has fabulous views of the Bay. Torquay really does shine in the summer and we love spending time wandering along the sea front taking in everything that is going on.
So there you have it, July’s most liked pictures from my Instagram account. If you are not following me, it would be lovely to have you. Which is your favourite picture this month?
